Last Updated: 17 January 2026
Welcome to Caledonian Compliance Limited. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the relationship between Caledonian Compliance Limited (“the Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and the client (“the Client,” “you,” or “your”) for the provision of electrical safety testing, including Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and related compliance services.

1. The Contract

1.1. A legally binding contract is formed when you book a service through our website, accept a written quotation, or pay the £25 booking fee. 1.2. By engaging our services, you confirm that you have the authority to enter into this contract for the premises specified.

2. Scope of Services

2.1. We provide Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and electrical inspections in accordance with the current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018 + Amendment 4:2026) and the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. 2.2. Our services include a visual inspection and, where appropriate, electrical testing of portable appliances. 2.3. Services are limited to the items presented at the time of the visit. We are not responsible for testing items that are hidden, inaccessible, or not made available by the Client.

3. Client Responsibilities & Access

3.1. Site Access: The Client must ensure our HNC-qualified engineers have safe and clear access to all appliances. If access is denied or restricted, we reserve the right to charge an "Abortive Visit Fee" equal to 50% of the quoted service cost. 3.2. Tenant Notification: For rental properties in Glasgow and surrounding areas, it is the Client’s responsibility to notify tenants of our visit. 3.3. Equipment Shutdown: The Client acknowledges that PAT testing requires appliances to be powered down. We accept no liability for data loss or business interruption caused by the temporary disconnection of equipment (e.g., servers, computers, or refrigeration).

4. Fees and Payment

4.1. Booking Fee: A non-refundable booking fee of £25 is required to secure your appointment. This fee is deducted from your final invoice. 4.2. Minimum Charge: We operate a minimum call-out charge for all site visits (as detailed on our Pricing page). 4.3. Payment Terms: For commercial clients, invoices must be paid within 14 days of the date of issue. For residential landlords, payment is due upon completion of the site visit unless otherwise agreed. 4.4. Late Payment: We reserve the right to charge interest on late payments at a rate of 8% above the Bank of England base rate, as per the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

5. Certification and Records

5.1. Digital certificates will be issued via email only after full payment has been received. 5.2. In line with UK GDPR and safety standards, we retain a copy of your test results for 7 years.

6. Limitation of Liability

6.1. While we perform all tests with professional care and skill, our liability is limited to the cost of the service provided. 6.2. We are not liable for pre-existing faults in appliances or for damage caused by the inherent fragility of an aged or poorly maintained device during the testing process. 6.3. Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

7. Cancellation and Rescheduling

7.1. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in the forfeiture of the £25 booking fee. 7.2. If we must reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., equipment failure or illness), we will offer the earliest possible alternative slot or a full refund of the booking fee.

8. Governing Law

8.1. These Terms are governed by the Laws of Scotland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts.
